The First Frame and Stretched Monk's Cloth
I ordered a piece of monk's cloth late last year. It was also very hard to find in stock anywhere. I could find smaller pieces but that doesn't really help. I folded the piece in half and cut into two pieces so that's how we decided on the first frame's size. Note: I sewed a zigzag stitch around the perimeter of the monk's cloth to stop it from fraying. The dimension of the first frame is 31 X 35". To that we attached 4 pieces of carpet tack strip. The above picture is the frame before the carpet tack strips were added. The overhanging piece is where I will clamp the frame to a bench to work on it. I didn't get a picture of the frame before I added the cloth. Oops. This is the backside. This is where the tufts of yarn will be visible. This is the side I will work on. Any words will need to be drawn on backwards so they appear the correct way when viewed from the other side.
